Get certified

To get your experience and skills formally recognised, the University of Strasbourg offers four options.

Recognition of Prior Learning (Validation des acquis de l'expérience VAE)

The VAE allows you to obtain a qualification that corresponds to the skills and experience you have gained through work.

Recognition of Higher Education (Validation des études supérieures – VES)

The VES allows you to obtain a qualification that reflects the skills and knowledge gained through higher education studies completed in France (as part of a non-degree programme) or abroad, without needing to return to formal education.

To apply for the Validation des études supérieures, contact the Academic Administration Office (scolarité) of the relevant faculty, school or institute and download the VES application form.

Recognition of Prior Studies (Validation d'acquis d'études)

Recognition of Prior Studies (Validation d'acquis d'études or intégration d’études) allows you to have previous studies completed in France or abroad recognised when they are related to the qualification you wish to obtain.

In most cases, you must apply for Recognition of Prior Studies through eCandidat at the same time as your university application. For more information, contact the Academic Administration Office (scolarité) of the relevant faculty, school or institute.

Recognition of Personal and Professional Experience (Validation des acquis professionnels et personnels –VAPP)

The VAPP allows students in both initial and continuing education to have professional, personal or voluntary experience gained in France or abroad recognised when it is relevant to the qualification they are aiming for.

If you are an employee, on training leave or registered as a jobseeker and wish to apply for the VAPP, contact the Continuing Education Office.

If you are in another situation (student, taking a break from studies, retired, caring for family members, etc.), your chosen faculty, school or institute can handle your VAPP application. Submit your application through eCandidat or contact the Academic Administration Office (scolarité) of the relevant faculty, school or institute.
